Style and approach

Barbara has over 25 years experience as a manager and development specialist at both operational and strategic levels. Her time spent as a manager, enables her to relate to the challenges faced by managers today, resulting in a down-to-earth style to her consultancy. She believes in giving clients control and direction over their own learning and creates a safe environment where people can be themselves, experiment and grow in the most appropriate way for them.

Experience and talent

Barbara is a skilled facilitator, coach and mentor with over 15 years in a variety of HRD roles. Her capabilities include directing, designing and delivering a wide range of development programmes, including leadership, trainer training, interpersonal skills and equality of opportunity and diversity. She has a particular expertise in facilitating groups, especially supporting people through the challenges of change.

Recent projects/clients

Amongst others, Barbara has worked with an international oil company, central government department, large water business and a national charity. Barbara's consultancy work has included facilitating change programmes, designing and facilitating tailored team events, designing and developing competency frameworks and developing strategic action plans for keeping diversity on the organisational agenda.

Previous work history

Prior to becoming a core member of the i.d. team, Barbara was a senior consultant at Roffey Park, directing the Core Skills for Consultants programme and set advising on the MSc in People and Organisational Development. She has also worked at the Civil Service College, Sunningdale as a Senior Lecturer. Prior to consultancy, Barbara was a manager in the Lord Chancellor's Department.

Qualifications

Barbara is qualified in the use of a range of occupational and personality instruments. She is also a qualified NLP practitioner and acts as a local community mediator in a voluntary capacity. She is currently writing a book looking at the role of the HR Business Partner and is a student of naturopathic nutrition.
